How much water should you use every day? You’re probably aware that it’s critical to stay hydrated when the temperature outside soars. But, regardless of the temperature, staying hydrated is a daily requirement. Unfortunately, many of us, particularly older individuals, do not drink enough. Older folks do not feel thirst as strongly as they formerly did. And this could be a concern if they’re using a diuretic or another drug that causes fluid loss.

            Staying hydrated means giving your body enough water to perform those activities.
You risk being dehydrated if you do not drink enough water each day. Dehydration symptoms include weakness, low blood pressure, dizziness, confusion, and black urine.
So, how much water should you consume? Most adults require four to six cups of water every day.

       The daily four-to-six cup rule is for persons who are generally healthy. If you have certain health conditions, such as thyroid illness or kidney, liver, or heart problems, or if you’re taking medications that cause you to retain water, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), opiate pain medications, and diuretics, you may consume too much water. The daily four-to-six cup rule is for persons who are generally healthy. If you have certain health conditions, such as thyroid disease or kidney, liver, or heart problems, or if you’re taking medications that cause you to retain water, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), opiate pain medications, and some antidepressants, you may consume too much water.
How much water should you drink every day if you fall into such a category? There is no one-size-fits-all solution. Water consumption should be customized, and you should consult with your doctor if you are unsure of the appropriate amount for you.
Even a healthy person’s water demands will vary, especially if you’re sweating profusely as a result of exercise or being outside on a hot day.

Water isn’t the only thing that keeps you hydrated. All water-containing beverages contribute to your daily requirements. It’s also a fallacy that caffeinated or alcoholic beverages dehydrate you because they induce you to pee. They do, however over the day, the water from these beverages contributes to total fluid consumption in a net beneficial way.
Of course, there are other reasons why water remains the preferable option. Remember that sugary drinks can cause weight gain and inflammation, increasing your chance of developing diseases like diabetes. Caffeine can give you the jitters or prevent you from sleeping. In addition, ladies should limit their alcohol consumption to one drink each day.
