Bipasha Basu is an Indian actress who appears in Hindi films. She was born on 7 January 1979 in New Delhi, India. Her parents are Himani and Amarjit Basu. She has one sister, Bidisha, and one brother, Bharat. Basu studied at Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and then graduated with a degree in commerce from Bhawanipur Education Society College in Kolkata. After college, she worked as a model and appeared in several commercials.
Basu made her film debut with the Bengali film, Ajnabee (2001), for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She then appeared in the Hindi film, Raaz (2002), which was a box office success. She subsequently appeared in a number of successful films, including Jism (2003), No Entry (2005), Phir Hera Pheri (2006), Dhoom 2 (2006), Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), and Race (2008).
Basu has also appeared in a number of Bengali films, including Shabd (2005), corporate (2006), and Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008). She has also appeared in a Tamil film, Jeans (1998).

Basu is married to actor John Abraham. The couple has one son, Henry.
