Early life and education
Nithya Menen was born on 8 April 1988 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India to a Malayali family. Her father, P.K. Menen, is an Indian diplomat and her mother, K.U. Thampuratti, is a homemaker. She has an elder sister, Nikita Menen, who is also an actress. Menen did her schooling in various parts of the world, including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Switzerland, and Abu Dhabi, due to her father’s diplomatic postings. She was educated at the Chennai Public School and the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Abu Dhabi. She completed her pre-university education at the Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. Menen subsequently enrolled at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore from where she completed her bachelor’s degree in clothing technology.
Career
Menen made her acting debut as a child artist in the 1999 Kannada film Shankar Guru. The same year, she made her Telugu film debut as a child artist in the film Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari. She subsequently appeared in a number of films in Tamil and Telugu as a child artist. In 2006, Menen made her adult acting debut in the Telugu film Aham Premasmi. The following year, she made her Tamil debut in the film Oru Naal Oru Kanavu.
Menen’s first release in 2010 was the Telugu film Leader, in which she played the role of a news reporter. The film was a commercial success and her performance in the film was well-received. The same year, she appeared in the Tamil film Paiyaa, which was also a commercial success. In 2011, Menen starred in the Telugu action film Orange, which was a critical and commercial success.
